"I had a great weekend at Felden Lodge. This was the first of your weekends I have been to. The venue was simple but provided everything one needed, and the meals were very good." Felden Lodge, April 2019

Felden Lodge is set in 32 acres of peaceful grounds on the rural outskirts of Hemel Hempstead. It's just 35 minutes by train from central London. Felden Lodge is on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are plenty of country-walks nearby and an opportunity on Saturday afternoon to explore the area.
All bedrooms are twin en-suite. There is a newly refurbished relaxing lounge area and conservatory style dining room. The weekend includes all meals, tuition and tea/ coffee breaks.
We will learn a variety of traditional harmony songs from across the Pacific. Including songs from Pacific islands such as New Zealand, Hawaii, Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti, Cook Islands and more. These singing traditions are some of the most gorgeous
Although polyphonic singing in many Polynesian islands is strongly influenced by European choral music, we can still say that Polynesia is one of the most important regions in the distribution of traditional vocal polyphony in the world.
Chris has carefully chosen the songs which are all arranged for voices only. He teaches everything by ear so there is no need to read music.
Chris will make a recording of the workshop available free afterwards. This will remind you of the weekend and impress you with the sound we create together!
Comments from 2019's singing weekend at Felden Lodge:
"I have been on many singing weekends/holidays and I have to say this was one of the best. It was good to be taken out of my comfort zone by not holding sheets of music! You have been very kind and encouraging. The teaching was excellent. It was nice not to be told off when making a mistake! The venue and food were great, people lovely, and the amount of breaks perfect."
"I loved all of it, but especially the bit where it all comes together at the end. This was my first time at this venue which I thought was good. The room was comfortable and good food."
"I want to say a big thank you for a marvellous weekend, it was just what I needed. You led us in the workshops with good humour and ease, and I was revelling in your creative arrangements of the songs. The people I met were lovely and welcoming, and it was wonderful to sit and chat with relaxed and happy folk, in lovely surroundings with good food. I can see why your workshops sell out early!"
