Felden Lodge is set in 32 acres of peaceful grounds on the rural outskirts of Hemel Hempstead. It's just 35 minutes by train from central London. Felden Lodge is on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are plenty of country-walks nearby and an opportunity on Saturday afternoon to explore the area.
All bedrooms are twin en-suite. There is a newly refurbished relaxing lounge area and conservatory style dining room. The weekend includes all meals, tuition and tea/ coffee breaks.
We will learn a variety of traditional folk songs from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales arranged in 3- and 4-part harmony. Rousing drinking songs, yearning love songs, robust sea shanties, spooky ballads, songs of the countryside. Something for everyone!
Chris has carefully chosen the songs which are all arranged for voices only. He teaches everything by ear so there is no need to read music.
Chris will make a recording of the workshop available free afterwards. This will remind you of the weekend and impress you with the sound we create together!
